Notifications Setup
Configure email, in-app, and Slack notifications in ShopTasks. Set frequency, scope, and due-date reminders to stay on top of your tasks.
Setting Up Notifications
Stay on top of your tasks with ShopTasks' notification system. Get alerted via email or Slack when important events happen — task assignments, due-date reminders, comments, and more.
Accessing Notification Settings
- Go to Settings from the sidebar.
- Scroll to the Notifications section.
- You'll see toggles for each notification event type.
Notification Events
You can configure alerts for the following events:
- Task created — a new task is added to one of your boards.
- Task assigned — a task is assigned to you (or a team member).
- Task completed — a task is marked as done.
- Task overdue — a task passes its due date without being completed.
- Mentions — someone @mentions you in a task comment or description.
- Comments — a new comment is added to a task you're watching.
Toggle each event on or off based on what matters to you.
Notification Frequency
Choose how often you want to receive email notifications:
- Immediate — get an email the moment each event occurs. Best for time-sensitive workflows.
- Daily digest — receive a single summary email each morning with all events from the past 24 hours.
- Weekly digest — receive a weekly summary. Great for high-level oversight.
Notification Scope
Control which tasks trigger your notifications:
- All tasks — get notified about activity on any task across all boards.
- Assigned to me only — only receive notifications for tasks where you're the assignee.
Due-Date Reminders
ShopTasks sends automatic reminders as task due dates approach. These run on a scheduled basis to make sure nothing slips through the cracks.
When a task is nearing its due date, the assignee receives an email reminder. This works alongside the "Task overdue" notification — so you get a heads-up before the deadline and an alert if it's missed.
In-App Notifications
In addition to email, you'll see a notification bell in the top bar of the app. Click it to view recent activity without leaving the page.
Slack Notifications
If you've connected Slack (see the Slack Integration guide), notifications can also be delivered to your team's Slack channel. This is especially useful for boards with a dedicated Slack channel configured.
Tips
- Start with "Assigned to me only" to avoid noise, then expand to "All tasks" once your workflow is established.
- Use immediate notifications for time-critical work like order follow-ups and customer support.
- Combine with automation policies — policies can trigger notifications automatically when events fire in your store.
